A send-off is two expenses: the gift and the drinks. One person buys the gift, another opens the tab. Put both in one group, and each colleague can see their share without an envelope going round the office.
How to do it

Colleagues join with a first name, no account. The person leaving stays out of the group.
Log the gift and the drinks
Whoever buys the gift adds it. Whoever pays the tab adds it. Equal shares by default.
Adjust who is in on what
Everyone chips in for the gift; only those who came split the drinks. Pick the people on each expense.
Pay in the app, if you choose
You can keep using Spliz to track expenses. If your group chooses in-app payment, balances settle in USDC on Base once the required approvals and funds are in place. Check the payment details and fee before signing.
A worked example
A send-off for 8
- Gift $120 paid by Inès, split between 8: $15 each. Drinks $90 paid by Marco, split between the 6 who came: $15 each.
- Balances: Inès +$90, Marco +$60, the 4 others who came -$30 each, the 2 who skipped the drinks -$15 each.
- With the required approvals and funds in place, $150 moves in USDC. Spliz fee: $0.15.

Common questions
Can we collect the money before buying the gift?
Not yet. Today one person fronts the gift and the group pays them back. A shared pot for putting money in before the spend is on the roadmap.
Does the person leaving have to be in the group?
No. Create the group without them; they never see the gift or the shares.
What if a colleague joins late?
Add them to the gift expense. Every share updates and everyone can see the new amount.
