Do you need crypto knowledge to use Spliz?
No. Sign in with Google or Apple, a wallet is created for you, and you settle in USDC. No seed phrase, no gas to buy, no crypto experience needed.
On this page
No. You do not need to know anything about crypto to use Spliz. You sign in like any app, a wallet is created for you, and you settle in USDC. There is no seed phrase to memorize, no gas to buy, and no jargon to learn first. Here is exactly what is, and is not, asked of you.
Do you need a crypto wallet first?
No. Sign in with Google or Apple and a wallet is created for you, owned by you, in the background. If you already use a wallet, you can connect that instead. Either way, you do not download anything extra or set up a wallet before you start.
Do you have to buy ETH or pay gas?
No. You never touch ETH and you never pay network gas. Spliz runs a relayer that covers the transaction cost; you just approve. The only money involved is the USDC you are splitting, plus the 0.1% fee at settlement, with a $0.10 minimum, shown before you sign.
Is there a seed phrase to write down?
Not to get started. Your wallet is tied to the way you signed in, so there is nothing to copy onto paper before you can use it. It is non-custodial, the funds are yours and Spliz never holds them, and you can export your private key whenever you want full control. You opt into that when you are ready, not as a hurdle on day one.
Can friends join without any of this?
Yes. Anyone can join a Spliz in guest mode, with no account at all, just a name. They sign in only when the group is ready to settle, and their place in the group carries over. The person who knows the least about crypto can still be in the group from the first tap.
So what do you actually need to know?
Two things. One: you settle in USDC, a stablecoin worth one US dollar, so the numbers behave like normal money. Two: everyone approves once, and the whole group settles together. That is it. The on-chain part happens underneath; you see amounts in your own currency and tap to approve.
The short version
- No wallet to install: one is created when you sign in.
- No ETH, no gas: Spliz covers the network cost.
- No seed phrase to start: recoverable through your login, exportable later.
- Friends can join with no account at all (guest mode).
